Position Description

Position Overview

The Home Base Lead Teacher develops the curriculum and fosters relationships with families in both the After School Program and Camp Days. This candidate will guide classroom management and student success, communicate with families, hire and manage teachers, and deliver top-notch childcare service.

About the Organization

Home Base was established in 2023 and is housed at Isaac M. Wise Temple, which was founded in 1842. Wise Temple is Cincinnati’s largest synagogue with 1,000 families. The Temple operates in a modern facility in Amberley Village as well as a historic national landmark synagogue (1866), Plum Street Temple, in downtown Cincinnati. Position Responsibilities

The categories of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Program Development 

  • Teach Home Base’s Jewish Studies and Hebrew curriculum
  • Solicit and integrate audience feedback, always aiming to improve
  • Oversee the daily classroom and transportation schedules
  • Purchase program supplies and snack items
  • Implement programming for after school and camp days. This includes:
    • Registration and enrollment of children in our CRM
    • Arranging for guest presenters and field trips
    • Communications with families & staff around camp day logistics
    • Create and maintain a daily schedule

Team Management

  • Recruit, hire, and train Home Base assistant teacher(s) as needed
  • Plan Teacher Orientation at the beginning of the school year
  • Assist the Director in hosting regular staff meetings and professional development sessions for the Home Base team
  • Support assistant teachers with lesson plans & classroom management
  • Cultivate a positive, hard-working, supportive culture among staff

Family Relationship Management

  • Partner with families to help their child(ren) be successful
  • Create and implement behavior management plans as needed
  • Send regular updates to families via email or Brightwheel
  • Recruit prospective families through emails, open houses, and other promotional events and marketing strategies throughout the year
  • Promote Home Base to personal and local connections
  • Meet with prospective families to get encourage them to enroll
  • Lead tours for new families and interested parties

Operations Management

  • Maintain compliance with state licensing requirements
  • Communicate to director any on-site facility issues as they arise
  • Attend and plan special Home Base events as needed.

Position Requirements

Compensation, Start Date, and Hours

The Home Base Lead Teacher pay rate ranges from $24/hr – $26/hr and compensation is based on previous experience and qualifications. This role will be filled by July 1, 2024 and will have 2024 Summer Hours of 15 hours/week as decided by the Lead Teacher and Director of Home Base. Once the school year begins, the hours will be 12:45 PM – 6:30 PM Monday – Friday; Hours for Camp Days when students are off school will be scheduled between 8:30 AM and 6:15 PM.
