Position Description
Rockwern Academy is seeking a skilled and motivated Director of Operations with attributes of
sensitivity and discretion, creativity and flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to manage
competing priorities. The individual will have strong relationship building and project
management skills.

Objective
To provide operational leadership in the areas of security, event planning, facilities, and
managing strategic projects. This individual will work as part of a larger team to carry out the
school’s mission and to ensure the day-to-day operations run efficiently and effectively.
Reporting Relationship
The position is responsible to the Head of School.
Responsibilities
Security
● Oversee the school’s security initiatives, including organizing training for staff; maintaining,
scheduling, and reporting drills; implementing new security projects; and maintaining
school safety manuals
● Coordinate with the School Resource Officer and Head of School on key security initiatives
● Schedule detail coverage through Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office as needed
● Oversee the schedule for Aegis Security’s presence on campus
● Liaise with SAFE Cincinnati
● Partner with Director of HR & Business Operations to control building access and maintain
database of authorized personnel
● Be familiar with security grants that the school may be eligible for, partner with Head of
School and Director of Development in completing applications, and then implement
security projects that are grant-funded
Event Planning and Project Management
● Provide project management of specific non-curricular school initiatives, including those
related to the school’s strategic plan
● Proactively lead planning of several events, ensuring coordination with other staff
● Lead a daily huddle of key staff to discuss upcoming events, building, and security needs
Facilities
● Monitor and inspect contracted construction/renovation projects to ensure conformity to
contract specifications
● Liaise with building contractors
● Oversee the work of TDG Facilities, including but not limited to giving feedback to them
regularly and suggesting process improvements where appropriate
● Support Head of School in preparing the capital budget and anticipating needs in a
multi-year budget
● Serve as a point person for facilities-related questions that fall outside of TDG’s scope or
issues TDG has not been able to resolve
● Liaise with the Community Property & Maintenance Fund
● Serve as a point of contact for our contracted food service provider regarding kitchen
facilities needs
Position Requirements
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
● Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in a related field preferred
● At least eight years of relevant work experience

● A fine-tuned attention to detail and accuracy; solid organizational skills
● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of
constituencies in the community
● Good judgment and decision-making aptitude

● Comfort with technology and learning new systems
