POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Planned Giving & Endowments (PG&E) will be responsible for enhancement of all planned giving initiatives, programs, and strategy, cultivating endowment commitments, and overseeing the Create Your Jewish Legacy program, to increase the quality and quantity of Jewish philanthropy.
This role reports directly to the Chief Development Officer and is responsible for managing the Donor Relations Officer/DAFs and Donor RelationsOfficer/Endowments and is part of the Development Department management team.
The Director of PG&E will cultivate relationships with existing donors and prospects that can make principal gifts towards, or deferred financial gifts, to benefit the Jewish community through a planned gift or otherwise. You will be responsible for stewarding donors and their philanthropic goals, while working to secure gifts and gift commitments from donors are part of JFC’s total giving strategy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work collaboratively with PG&E team, department staff and lay leadership to develop annual plan, goals, and metrics for planned giving. Including, but not limited to, supporting colleagues in their understanding of PG&E to work collaboratively to reach total fundraising goals.
- Cultivate, solicit, and maintain relationships with donors to meet their philanthropic goals and further their charitable interests.
- Oversight and management of existing JFC endowment agreements, including annual disbursements of existing funds in collaboration with Finance department.
- Grow endowment agreements that benefit JFC and other community agencies and congregations, as part of the strategic plan for securing planned gifts for JFC and community-wide.
- Oversight of donor advised funds and Create Your Jewish Legacy, to increase planned gifts across the Cincinnati Jewish community.
- Work closely with lay leadership and lay committees.
- Solicit for all revenue streams, including planned giving, annual campaign, and directed giving opportunities, including attending campaign-related activities, events, and engagements, supporting JFC and the community.
- Conduct informational seminars and other speaking engagements to promote and educate on PG&E, including with fundraising staff, lay leaders, and community partners.
- Build necessary relationships to maintain a list of allied legal, accounting and financial planning professionals and professional advisors that result in establishing a DAF and/or endowment gift to the Jewish community.
- Assure proper recording of all contact and follow-up with donors and prospects is accurately recorded in the JFC database.
- Attend events and meetings periodically on evenings and weekends.
Position Requirements
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of planned giving, financial planning, or fundraising experience
- Experience with donor advised funds strongly preferred
- Understanding of fundraising principles, including estate and financial planning techniques
- Knowledge of CRM database, Blackbaud preferred
- Team player with high energy and passion for the mission
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Detail oriented; ability to multitask and meet deadlines; and work independently and collaboratively, as required
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, operate with discretion, and use outstanding judgement
- Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite of Products, particularly Excel
- Commitment to the mission of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and knowledge of Jewish customs and practices
