Rockdale Temple is a Reform Jewish congregation of 350 member families. We are the oldest Jewish congregation west of the Allegheny Mountains, looking forward to celebrating our Bicentennial in 2024! Our multi-generational congregation gathers regularly for learning, celebration, and service to others. Position Summary:

Rockdale Temple seeks a friendly, motivated person to serve as Administrative Assistant to our clergy and Executive Director, responsible for a wide range of administrative and organizational tasks. The successful candidate will be a forward-facing member of our team, welcoming members and visitors and connecting them with the congregation and our leadership. Rockdale’s Executive Assistant is responsible to the Executive Director and takes direction from the Clergy, working together with the Office & Communications Coordinator and other members of our staff.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead front reception: Meet and greet congregants and guests, answer incoming calls, resolve issues or take messages as appropriate
  • Manage scheduling and appointments for Clergy and Executive Director
  • Prepare correspondence for lifecycle events and other activities as directed by the Clergy and Executive Director
  • Lead team utilizing CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software
  • Coordinate meeting logistics for internal programs and external rentals
  • Respond to email and phone inquiries from members and interested individuals
  • Oversee administrative tasks of the Board of Directors
  • Coordinate transportation, technology, and other supports for elderly members and those with accessibility needs
  • Prepare physical and electronic mailings
  • Organize member volunteers, including schedules and tasks
  • Provide organizational support for youth and education programs
  • Manage office inventory and order supplies
  • Create content and manage social media (desired, not required)
  • Other administrative tasks as assigned

Requirements

Experience & Skills:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree (preferred, not required) or combination of education and experience
  • Administrative or assistant experience in a professional office and/or non-profit environment
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop; knowledge of other Adobe Creative Suite apps (preferred, not required)
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
  • Familiarity with Judaism/Jewish community and/or a willingness to learn
  • Dedication to maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
  • Respect and patience for all people with whom you interact
  • Positive attitude and focus on customer service

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Annual salary of $36,000
