About the Role
Adath Israel Congregation is looking for an outstanding full-time Marketing & Communications Manager. If you are a dynamic, flexible, and incisive professional with a track record of impact at a senior level and strong knowledge of the Jewish community, this may be the role for you.
The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s overall communications efforts. The Manager articulates an ongoing communications strategy for the Synagogue and offers fresh, innovative thinking and strategic marketing and communications plans to improve overall awareness and engagement in our programs. This person is responsible for building out the storytelling platform while creating and marketing content for all synagogue events and educational programs.
This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and oversees the Communications Department, a team responsible for a wide range of communications in support of the synagogue’s goals and objectives. The Marketing & Communications Manager builds strong collaborative relationships with the clergy, leadership team and colleagues across the organization to understand and address organizational and departmental communication. Using data, they evaluate opportunities to improve our communications strategy to reach various stakeholders and increase participation in our synagogue.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Develop and maintain clear and consistent messaging, branding and standards of excellence at all levels and across all mediums.
- Drive the “look and feel” of all communications, ensuring brand consistency.
- Oversee the design of print and digital marketing materials and email marketing.
- Direct and supervise Communication Marketing Associates.
- Manage recurring communications initiatives including weekly programming emails to congregants, the synagogue’s quarterly newsletter as well as ongoing social media work.
- Continue to evolve Adath’s marketing plans and strategies.
- Manage condolences emails collaborating with the Senior Rabbi.
- Manage development and updates to Adath related websites, evaluating usability and making recommendations to improve layout and function.
- Build strong relationships with the Adath team and lay leadership. Manage requests for programming communications plans and materials and provide advice and consultation on specific communication strategies.
- Communicate with staff and congregants to collect testimonials and internal and external stories.
- Receive, manage and respond to routine media requests. Monitor press and social media.
- Review, strengthen and enforce established communications workflows and processes already in place.
- Supervise staff and outside vendors relating to website management, e-blasts and other electronic communications and additional print, electronic and social media focused projects.
- Establish clear benchmarks and metrics for success, evaluating the institution’s progress and regularly reporting out to leadership, and be responsible for the communications department’s meeting of those goals.
- Responsibly manage the communications budget.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 6+ years’ experience as a communications professional with a passion for non-profit/mission-based work preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely and comfortably with senior level management and various stakeholders to develop and deliver clear, consistent, and creative communications across a broad array of channels (both internal & external) for medium-to-large size organizations.
- Familiarity with non-profit environments a plus.
- Jewish knowledge a significant plus.
- Proficient in Canva, Adobe Suite, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Web Design platforms.
- Helpful to have knowledge of BeeFree (RGE Studio), Asana Project Management, Shulcloud, Form building.
- FLSA classification (Exempt and not eligible for OT).
